On the boat heading toward America, Nadya met Ana and her husband, Nicholas. Tall and striking, Ana was as bold and sassy as Nadya was shy and conservative. Displaced without any family or friends outside of their husbands, the two women became the best of friends and eventually neighbors in Chicago's Ukrainian Village. Over time, they were like sisters, sharing the happy and sad times.
Ana and Nicholas spent much of their lives traveling, and she sent Nadya postcards from her adventures. The following cards give us a glimpse into the women's lives and relationship.
